Easter, Pope: "Winds of death blow, become messengers of hope"

Rome, April 19. (LaPresse) – "Reproduce Easter in our lives and become messengers of hope, builders of hope while many winds of death still blow over us." This was Pope Francis' message in his homily for the Easter Vigil currently taking place at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. The homily is being read by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, who is leading the service. "We can do this with our words," the Pope continued, "with our small daily gestures, with our choices inspired by the Gospel. Our whole life can be a presence of hope. We want to be this for those who lack faith in the Lord, for those who have lost their way, for those who have given up or whose backs are bent under the weights of life; for those who are alone or have closed themselves off in their pain; for all the poor and oppressed of the Earth; for the women who are humiliated and killed; for the children never born and those abused; for the victims of war. To each and to all, we bring the hope of Easter!" "This hope of Easter, this 'turnaround in the darkness,' we must all announce," the Pope added.
