Vatican: end of Parolin-Vance meeting, focus on wars, migrants and refugees

Rome, 19 April (LaPresse) – ‘This morning, Saturday, 19 April 2025, the Honourable James David Vance, Vice President of the United States of America, was received in the Secretariat of State by His Eminence Card. Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State, accompanied by His Eminence Msgr. Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations. During the cordial conversation, satisfaction was expressed for the good bilateral relations existing between the Holy See and the United States of America, and the common commitment to protect the right to religious freedom and freedom of conscience was renewed. There was an exchange of views on the international situation, especially on countries marked by war, political tensions and difficult humanitarian situations, with particular attention to migrants, refugees and prisoners, and other topics of common interest were also discussed. Lastly, a serene collaboration between the State and the Catholic Church in the United States was hoped for, whose valuable service to the most vulnerable people was recognised’.
