Rome, 6 May (LaPresse) – Security tightened in Florence ahead of the Conference League semi-final second leg between Fiorentina and Betis, scheduled for Thursday evening at 9 p.m. The match was the focus of a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety, attended by the Councillor for Urban Security of the Municipality of Florence, Andrea Giorgio, senior police officers and the commander of the municipal police. Among other things, starting tomorrow, ‘dynamic and fixed police services will be established in Piazza della Signoria, Piazza Duomo, Piazza Santa Maria Novella, Piazza Santo Spirito and Piazza SS. Annunziata. These services will be in addition to the regular territorial control services’. It has also been decided to cordon off certain areas where the city's main monuments are located. These include the Fountain of Neptune, Palazzo Vecchio, La Loggia dei Lanzi, the Baptistery and the Duomo.’ A series of restrictions on the sale of bottled and canned drinks and the consumption of alcohol in various areas, including the historic centre (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) of Florence, are also planned.
