Rome, May 7th (LaPresse) – Over 30,000 people are present in St. Peter's Square awaiting the smoke, which is expected to appear shortly after the first vote of the cardinals gathered in the Conclave to elect the new pope. The entire Vatican area is being flown over by a police helicopter, and public order and security operations are managed by the Cabinet Office of the Rome Police Headquarters, from the Grand Events Room on Via San Vitale. According to the Police Headquarters, the number of people present in St. Peter's Square is steadily increasing.
