Milan, May 8 (LaPresse) – “In this time, so tumultuous due to the conflicts afflicting vast areas of the planet and the ongoing social and cultural changes, we continue to work 'for world peace'. We assure you of our commitment to build bridges of dialogue, to aid suffering humanity, and to always serve the least and most in need.” This is what the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI) stated in a message to Pope Leo XIV after his election. “Most Blessed Father – the message begins – we express the feelings of emotion and joy of the Churches in Italy as we receive the news of Your election to the Pontifical Throne. Together with the ecclesial communities, we raise a hymn of praise to the Lord for the gift of Your calling to be 'the visible principle and foundation of unity in faith and communion in charity' (Roman Missal), a messenger of peace in a wounded and torn world.”
