Rome, 9 May (LaPresse) – Lorenzo Sonego concludes the series of Collare d'Oro awards for sporting merit to Davis Cup winners. After Lorenzo Musetti, Matteo Berrettini and Jannik Sinner, the Turin tennis player received the highest honour in Italian sport in the Sala delle Fiaccole at CONI from President Giovanni Malagò and Secretary General Carlo Mornati. The Italian was a key player in Captain Filippo Volandri's team that brought the trophy back to Italy in 2023, which had been missing since 1976, especially in his role as doubles partner to the current ATP number 1. Having reached a career-high ranking of 21 in 2021, Sonego also boasts four titles on the major circuit, three Challengers and three Futures. ‘Congratulations,’ said Malagò. ‘Thank you, Lorenzo, for what you have done and for what you will do. I wish you many more Collari d'Oro.’
