Venice: Mayor Brugnaro and 33 others indicted

Rome, 12 May (LaPresse) – Thirty-four requests for indictment, including those for the mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro, and his collaborators Morris Ceron (chief of staff and general manager of the municipality of Venice) and Derek Donadini, have been filed by the Venice Public Prosecutor's Office as part of the corruption investigation known as ‘Palude’, conducted by the Guardia di Finanza, in connection with the sale of Palazzo Papadopoli to Chinese tycoon Ching Chiat Kwong, who is also under investigation for corruption along with his collaborator in Italy, Luis Lotti. Former councillor Renato Boraso, who is charged with corruption, has asked for a plea bargain of three years and ten months in the first strand of the investigation. The hearing before the preliminary hearing judge at the Venice court will be scheduled shortly. Sixteen companies are also under investigation in the same proceedings.
