Rome, 22 May (LaPresse) – ’We were already on high alert. We have thousands of targets and sites under surveillance, with gradually increasing security measures, some of which are permanent. We have alerted the peripheral structures, prefectures and police headquarters, which will intensify their surveillance in some way. I don't think there is any need to raise the alarm, but we were already on high alert and have now raised awareness even further.’ This was the response of Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi to reporters in Rome today, on the sidelines of a conference organised by the police union Coisp, who asked about a possible increase in security measures following the attack on the Israeli embassy in Washington.
