Rome, 25 May (LaPresse) – ‘Your Holiness, I am happy to bring greetings from the city. I express my gratitude for this gesture. We accept this gesture as a sign of your affection for Rome. The bond with Christianity has enriched Rome with beauty and ethical values of responsibility. Such as the responsibility for peace.’ These were the words of the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, in his tribute to Pope Leo XIV. ‘We have common challenges to face together, such as the Jubilee of Hope, starting with the Jubilee of Young People,’ Gualtieri added, emphasising that ‘Rome is taking care of its suburbs.’ Finally, Gualtieri told the Pope: “This city is ready to accompany you. We and the whole city of Rome will be your allies. Let us walk together”.
