Rome, 29 May (LaPresse) – "Until recently, special orphans appeared to be completely invisible. They are invisible in terms of numbers; there is no register that can collect them, and there is no possibility of obtaining accurate and consistent data. Through a journalistic investigation, we have managed to gather news and information about women who have died as a result of femicide in recent years and, from there, to reconstruct the number of special orphans, who are considered to be minors, at over 3,500 in Italy." These are the words of Stefania Bartoccetti, president of the Independent National Observatory on Orphans of Femicide, speaking before the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on Femicide.
