Palermo, May 30 (LaPresse) – A 30-year-old man, S.R., was killed this afternoon in Piazza Mancini Battaglia in Catania by multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdomen, inflicted by an illegal parking attendant during a heated argument. The victim was an employee of a well-known pastry shop in Catania and was on his way to work. The pastry chef died after being transferred to Cannizzaro Hospital. The attack occurred just a few meters from the pastry shop. The parking attendant, a non-EU national, tried to flee but was stopped by the police and arrested in flagrante delicto for aggravated murder. The motive is still unknown, but investigators believe it is not related to non-payment for parking. The two knew each other, and according to witness statements collected immediately after the incident, the victim did not pay precisely because he worked in front of the parking area. The investigation has been assigned to the Flying Squad and the Mobile Squad of Catania. Officers are gathering all video footage from nearby cameras to reconstruct the events.
