Vatican City (Vatican), June 1 (LaPresse) – “Marriage is not an ideal, but the standard of true love between a man and a woman: a total, faithful, and fruitful love. While it transforms you into one flesh, this very love makes you capable, in the image of God, of giving life.”
So said Pope Leo XIV during the homily of the Jubilee Mass for Families, Children, Grandparents, and the Elderly in the Vatican.
“Therefore,” the Pope continued, “I encourage you to be examples of integrity for your children, behaving as you wish them to behave, educating them to freedom through obedience, always seeking in them the good and the means to cultivate it.
And you, children, be grateful to your parents: saying ‘thank you’ for the gift of life and for everything that comes with it every day is the first way to honor your father and mother.
Finally, to you, dear grandparents and elderly, I entrust the task of watching over those you love with wisdom and compassion, with the humility and patience that come with age.”
