Milan, 6 June (LaPresse) – 'I smoked a cigarette and just before leaving I threw it on the carpet in front of the sofa. She was a clean freak, I just wanted to annoy her, I didn't think I would cause a fire." This is what 45-year-old Michael Sinval Pereira said in his statement after being arrested on Thursday evening for the murder of his partner, who threw herself from the burning apartment in Viale Abruzzi 64 in Milan. The man claimed that ‘she was cleaning the carpet and sofa with alcohol and ammonia’ to try to justify the uncontrollable fire. He said he had “argued” with Sueli Leal Barbosa. ‘She was angry with me because she wanted me to join her in bed instead of drinking, and I got nervous.’
