Milan, June 19 (LaPresse) – This morning in Verbania the second preliminary hearing was held for the Mottarone cable car disaster on May 23, 2021, in which 14 people lost their lives. The hearing has been postponed to September 18. During the morning, Judge Gianni Macchioni accepted all requests for civil party status. There are five defendants: Luigi Nerini, sole administrator of Ferrovie del Mottarone; Enrico Perocchio, plant director; Gabriele Tadini, head of cable car service; Martin Leitner, managing director of Leitner spa; and Peter Rabanser, Customer Service manager of the same company. According to reports, the judge requested a reformulation of the charges (which had already been done, but not as required by the judge). The charges, in various capacities, include transport safety offense, negligent disaster, negligent homicide, and negligent injury. Perocchio and Tadini are also accused of forgery. With the previous reformulation of charges, three suspects had already been excluded (Anton Seber of Leitner and the two companies Ferrovie del Mottarone srl and Leitner spa).
