Milan, June 26 (LaPresse) – Only genetic traces of Alberto Stasi and Chiara Poggi appear to have been found on the garbage and breakfast items from August 13, 2007, in the Garlasco house, according to recent analyses by forensic geneticist Denise Albani during the preliminary hearing. The findings, cautiously previewed by Stasi’s lawyer Antonio De Rensis on Wednesday evening during the program Zona Bianca, have now been confirmed: DNA from the former boyfriend of the 26-year-old victim — convicted and sentenced to 16 years for the murder — was found on the plastic straw of an Estathé, while Chiara Poggi’s DNA was reportedly found on the “film” of a Fruttolo yogurt, on a plate, and on a cereal box found on the sofa where she was having breakfast the morning of the murder.
According to the initial results, there is no trace of DNA from Andrea Sempio, the new suspect under investigation by the Pavia Prosecutor’s Office for complicity in the murder. “These are indications that, if interpreted correctly, are quite interesting,” said De Rensis, noting that Stasi has “always” stated he drank the Estathé.
In the rulings on the Garlasco murder case, reference is made to the last meal shared by the couple the evening before the crime, including “a can of beer” brought by Stasi to Via Pascoli along with his laptop and some books, before going to pick up takeaway pizza from the restaurant Dietro l’Angolo. The pizza boxes were later found in the house. “We know that the large can of beer Alberto drank existed, because it was in the fridge. The defense team proved that at the time with great care,” his lawyer added.
