Milan, 27 June (LaPresse) – ‘For the court, having acknowledged nothing, he is capable of understanding and willing.’ This was stated by Amedeo Rizza, lawyer for Riccardo Chiarioni, sentenced to 20 years, the maximum sentence in summary proceedings, for the Paderno massacre, when, at the age of 17, on the night between 31 August and 1 September last year, he stabbed his parents and 12-year-old brother to death in the family home. The lawyer pointed out that “the treatment programme was ordered by this court, which is at odds with the fact that a month and a half ago, you, the court, decided to start a treatment programme and today you consider him fully capable. This is an aspect that will have to be assessed when reading the reasons for the ruling”.
