Palermo, 30 June (LaPresse) – One woman has died and 87 migrants have been rescued following a shipwreck last night in the Sicilian Channel, 45 miles from Lampedusa. The migrants were rescued at around 2 a.m. by a Tunisian fishing boat. They are from Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Mali, Senegal and Sudan. The survivors, including 23 women and 10 minors, and the woman's body were transferred to a coast guard vessel. After disembarking in Lampedusa, they were taken to the Contrada Imbriacola hotspot. During the night, the coast guard rescued another dinghy in distress with 78 people on board of Ivorian, Ghanaian, Nigerian and Sudanese nationality.
