Milan, 1 July (LaPresse) – The preliminary hearing for the new trial related to the case of Alessia Pifferi, which sees the defence lawyer of the 39-year-old woman sentenced to life imprisonment, Alessia Pontenani, the psychiatric consultant Marco Garbarini, the specialists from San Vittore, Paola Guerzoni and Letizia Marazzi, and two other professionals, Federica Martinetti and Maria Fiorella Gazale. During the hearing, the lawyers for Martinelli, Guerzoni, Marazzi and Garbarini announced their intention to request summary proceedings, while the others will go to trial. Mirko Mazzali, lawyer for one of the professionals involved, spoke of a “calm atmosphere” and added that he had full confidence in the justice system. “With lawyer Pontenani,” said Corrado Limentani, who is defending his colleague, 'we are still evaluating the procedure, but we are sure that she will be cleared of this unfounded accusation. We have made an explicit request to be heard, she wants to have her say to prove the absolute groundlessness of these accusations'. However, there was no challenge to the judge Roberto Crepaldi, as requested by the public prosecutor Francesco De Tommasi.
