Heatwave, Schillaci: ‘Control room set up with Civil Protection Agency’

Milan, 4 July (LaPresse) – ‘Starting today, there will be a control room involving the Ministry of Health's Prevention Department, the Civil Protection Agency, the Lazio Region's Prevention Department and INAIL (the Italian Workers' Compensation Authority).’ This was announced by the Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci, interviewed on Unomattina Estate about the heatwave emergency. ‘From partial data, compared to previous years, we are fortunately not seeing an increase in mortality. We will have more reliable data in the coming days, but for the moment the situation is under control,’ added Schillaci. ‘We have had particularly hot summers over the last three years, so it is right to focus on prevention,’ the minister stressed. ‘In some emergency rooms, channels have been set up for those who present with symptoms related to this intense heat, such as possible dehydration,’ Schillaci continued.
