Milan, July 24 (LaPresse) – The investigation, coordinated by the Ivrea Prosecutor's Office, into the August 2023 railway accident in Brandizzo (Turin area) has been closed. The most serious charge, voluntary manslaughter, has been dropped. The remaining charges now include, in various capacities, involuntary manslaughter and negligent railway disaster.
According to reports, the Ivrea Prosecutor’s Office is currently notifying 24 individuals and companies of the closure of the investigation: all previously known suspects remain, along with some new ones. The three companies under investigation are Sigifer, RFI, and CLF.
During the night between August 30 and 31, 2023, Kevin Laganà, Michael Zanera, Giuseppe Sorvillo, Giuseppe Aversa, and Giuseppe Saverio Lombardo were working on the tracks along the Turin-Milan railway, near Brandizzo, when they were struck and killed by a train en route to the depot, traveling at approximately 160 kilometers per hour.
