Milan, 26 July (LaPresse) – Tensions during the march towards the “construction sites of devastation” organised by No Tav in Val di Susa as part of the Alta Felicità Festival in Venaus. The procession, made up of about 3,000 people protesting against the Turin-Lyon high-speed rail project, split into three groups. At the San Didero truck terminal, some protesters with their faces covered not only banged on the fences but also threw stones and firecrackers with homemade slingshots at the police, who kept them at a distance with water cannons. The same scenes were repeated in Chiomonte, where the protest is currently coming to an end. At around 4 p.m., after setting fire to a container at the San Didero truck terminal, some No Tav protesters also occupied the motorway, which had already been closed as a precautionary measure, setting fire to some household items. Traffic is now resuming and no injuries have been reported at this time.
