Work accidents: workers killed in Naples, two were working illegally

Naples, 26 July (LaPresse) – Two of the three workers who died yesterday in the accident in Via Domenico Fontana in Naples were working illegally, without a regular contract. This is what has emerged from initial investigations coordinated by the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office into the accident that caused the death of three people. Four people have been placed under investigation and will soon receive their first notices of investigation: according to some newspapers, they are the owner of the company for which the three workers were working, the site safety manager, the lift rental company and the building administrator. The accident occurred yesterday morning at around 9.40 a.m. The three workers were carrying out maintenance work on a seven-storey building in Via Domenico Fontana, in the Rione Alto, a hilly area of the city. The three were in a basket which, for reasons still under investigation, overturned, causing them to fall from a height of about 20 metres. It also remains to be verified whether the three workers were wearing helmets or safety harnesses that could have prevented their fall.
