Lucca, 29 July (LaPresse) – "In Italy, an anti-meritocratic sentiment has spread since 18 political events, which has also infected the judiciary, when there was talk of promotions based on seniority rather than merit. For 50 years, at all levels, we have been filled with this intolerance towards meritocratic assessments. Yet, for students, merit is not about achieving excellence. It is about bringing out the talents and abilities that every young person has within them, with a commitment to realising them." These were the words of the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, guest at the meeting at the Caffè della Versiliana in Marina di Pietrasanta, in the province of Lucca.
