Rome, July 29 (LaPresse) – Francis Kaufmann, also known as Rexal Ford, a 46-year-old Californian citizen accused of the murder of 11-month-old Andromeda and suspected in the death of his partner Anastasia Trofimova—both found dead on June 7 in Villa Pamphili park in Rome—has, through his legal counsel, withdrawn his appeal to the Court of Review.

As a result, the alleged killer will remain in the protected unit of Rome’s Rebibbia prison, where he has been held since his extradition from the island of Skiathos, Greece, where he was arrested a few days after the discovery of the bodies.

Deputy prosecutor Giuseppe Cascini and assistant prosecutor Antonio Verdi of the Rome prosecutor’s office are awaiting the results of histological tests performed during the autopsy on Anastasia’s body to determine the cause of her death.

Meanwhile, investigations are also ongoing into Kaufmann’s financial situation regarding a suspected €863,000 funding granted by the Italian Ministry of Culture in the form of a tax credit for the film Stelle della notte, a cinematic work that was never released in theaters. Kaufmann was reportedly involved in the project as its director.
