Rome, 1 August (LaPresse) – Finance police from the Provincial Command of Rome seized a shipment of cocaine hidden inside a refrigerated container arriving from Ecuador at the port of Civitavecchia. During routine checks in the port area, the Civitavecchia “fiamme gialle” (finance police) noticed a group of people on foot loitering near the quay. After being ordered to stop, the group fled and, a short distance away, the military found three bags containing 45 blocks of cocaine, weighing a total of approximately 50 kg. According to estimates, the shipment could have yielded approximately €5 million in profits on the drug market.
