Palermo, Aug. 7 (LaPresse) – Simona Cinà likely died from drowning, though the exact circumstances remain unclear. This is what emerged from the preliminary results of the autopsy carried out this morning at the Institute of Legal Medicine at Palermo’s Policlinico Hospital.
Water was found in the lungs of the young woman, who was discovered dead Friday night during a pool party in Bagheria. Preliminary examinations had already supported what the forensic doctor stated in the initial inspection. There are no signs of violence: the only marks found were some bruises on the sternum, likely caused by resuscitation attempts by the two young men who pulled her from the bottom of the pool.
The autopsy was conducted by forensic doctor Tommaso D’Anna and pathologist Emiliano Maresi. The family reaffirmed that the young woman was in good health. The prosecutor’s office will now acquire all of her medical and sports records, as she was an active volleyball player.
