Summer, Anas: black Saturday expected – nearly 13 million cars on the roads this weekend

Rome, Aug. 9 (LaPresse) – The second weekend of August marks the peak of the summer exodus. Traffic is expected to steadily increase along the Anas road network due to the shutdown of most businesses ahead of the Ferragosto holiday week.

To ease congestion, Anas has suspended additional roadworks starting yesterday, bringing the total number of suspended worksites to 1,392 – over 83% of all active sites (1,672).

According to estimates by the Anas Road Mobility Observatory, approximately 12.64 million car trips are expected this weekend.

The most critical time will be this morning, Saturday, August 9, with “black label” traffic conditions forecast by Viabilità Italia, as people leave major cities for seaside destinations in the south, mountain resorts in the north, and cross-border vacation spots.

The main travel routes affected are the Adriatic, Tyrrhenian, and Ionian corridors heading south, as well as border crossings towards France, Slovenia, and Croatia.
