Rome, Aug 13 (LaPresse) – Following recent suspected botulism-related deaths in Calabria and Sardinia, Italy’s Carabinieri NAS (Anti-Adulteration Unit) have intensified nationwide inspections, focusing on food trucks, local fairs, and street food festivals. A total of 76 facilities were inspected, 10 of which were seized. Authorities confiscated 778 kg of food and 120 liters of liquids, for an estimated value of nearly €20,000. Overall, the value of seized goods, including food, equipment, and structures, reached €608,170—about €300,000 in the last few days alone. Authorities issued 43 administrative fines totaling €36,617.
