Rome, 14 August (LaPresse) – Loud music, hundreds of young people on the dance floor and a professional disco set-up, but without a licence. This is what the Carabinieri of the Bagnara Calabra station found when they intervened at a beach resort that had been turned into an illegal nightclub. The raid, carried out with the support of the local police and fire brigade, interrupted a music event advertised on social media that had attracted around 500 young people. During the inspection, the Carabinieri discovered serious irregularities. No public entertainment licence, insufficient emergency exits without illuminated signs, unsuitable fire extinguishers and inadequate safety measures at work were among the irregularities found. The organiser was reported on bail for illegally opening a public entertainment venue and violating the municipal noise ordinance, with fines of £14,000. The area converted into a nightclub was seized. A second establishment was also targeted by the checks, where another musical event was taking place for which no notification had been sent to the municipal offices. The owner was fined €1,500. Once the checks were completed, the Carabinieri stopped the music and safely dispersed the patrons. The operation is part of a wider summer initiative launched by the Carabinieri to ensure order, legality and safety in entertainment venues throughout the province.
