Urban planning investigation, prosecutors: ‘We will continue, the law and the truth demand it’

Milan, 14 August (LaPresse) – ‘We will continue with this investigation, however, not because we are obsessed with some kind of fury against urban development, but because the law requires us to do so. We can do nothing but continue with the investigation, as these are offences that must be prosecuted ex officio.’ This was stated by Milan's deputy prosecutor, Tiziana Siciliano, coordinator of the urban planning investigation, during a break in the hearings at the review court, which two days ago released entrepreneur Andrea Bezziccheri and architect Alessandro Scandurra and is today assessing the positions of three other arrested individuals, Giancarlo Tancredi, Giuseppe Marinoni and Federico Pella. ‘This is a huge investigation,’ said Siciliano, ‘which has been building up for months and has already received many confirmations, confirmations given by the previous review, confirmations from the Court of Cassation, confirmations from the Council of State, and from the Regional Administrative Court, which has also changed its position. So we have extremely solid grounds.’ ‘It involves dozens of suspects,’ added the prosecutor in charge of the team. ‘We are evaluating the position of six suspects here in the review, but it is a large investigation and we have a legal obligation to move forward, and that is what we will do.’ ‘I am very passionate about the truth,’ she concluded.
