Milan, Aug. 15 (LaPresse) – Overall crime in Italy has decreased: from January 1 to July 31, 2025, the figure is down 9% compared to the same period in 2024. This is what emerges from the Interior Ministry’s report. In detail, compared to last year, sexual assaults are down (3,477 cases in 2025, -17.3%), robberies (15,780 cases, -6.7%), and thefts (559,143 cases, -7.7%). Homicides, however, have increased, rising from 178 in 2024 to 184 as of July 31, 2025, an increase of +3.4%. The number of people reported to the authorities has also decreased (461,495, -8%), including 91,975 under arrest (-7.2%) and 369,520 not under arrest (-8.1%).
