Florence, Aug. 21 (LaPresse) – “Tuscany has been hit by an exceptional weather system. Torrential rain has struck Elba and many areas of our region, from Prato to Grosseto. In the last twelve hours, a record figure of more than 109,000 lightning strikes has been recorded across Tuscany,” wrote the President of the Region, Eugenio Giani, on social media.
“A heartfelt thanks – he added – to our regional Civil Protection system in Tuscany and to the many volunteers and operators involved in the emergency response. It is essential to continue investing in prevention and safety. On days like this – he concluded – Tuscany finds its greatest strength in the solidarity and unity of its community.”
