Milan, 28 August (LaPresse) – Since 2 p.m., it has been raining in Milan “with greater intensity” than in the morning: 'So far, between 30 and 40 mm of rain has fallen in the city, 46 in Paderno Dugnano, 51 in Monza, 70 in Seveso, 73 in Lambrugo, 80 in Cantù and Saronno, 90 in Sormano, and 100 in Busto Arsizio." This was announced by Marco Granelli, Councillor for Civil Protection of the Municipality of Milan. “There is some minor flooding on the roads in the city, but all underpasses are open, except for a closure on Viale Rubicone and Negrotto for about 30 minutes, the time needed for the pumping system to remove the water from the heaviest downpours,” he said. At 4.15 p.m., the Seveso reservoir in Milan was activated because the flood wave arrived and we must prevent flooding in the city's neighbourhoods. This is the ninth time since the beginning of 2024 that the reservoir has saved Milan from flooding. The Lambro is also rising, and we are assessing the trend in water levels for the possible evacuation of the communities in the park, while mobile flood barriers have already been positioned in Ponte Lambro, and we will decide on closure based on the rise in water levels in the culvert in Via Vittorini and the level of the Lambro.
