Pope: ‘World leaders often reduce peace to a slogan’

Vatican City (Vatican), 5 Sept. (LaPresse) – "Peace is on the agenda of international leaders, it is the subject of global discussions, but unfortunately it is often reduced to a mere slogan. What we need is to cultivate peace in our hearts and in our relationships, to let it flourish in our daily actions, to work for reconciliation in our homes, in our communities, in our schools and workplaces, in the Church and among Churches." Thus spoke Pope Leo XIV when receiving the Mediterranean Youth Council in audience. "Brothers and sisters, do not be afraid: be seeds of peace where the seeds of hatred and resentment grow; be weavers of unity where polarisation and enmity prevail; be the voice of those who have no voice to ask for justice and dignity; be light and salt where the flame of faith and the taste for life are dying out. Do not give up if someone does not understand you. Saint Charles de Foucauld said that God also uses headwinds to lead us to port. I encourage you to move forward with the experience of the Mediterranean Youth Council," added the Pontiff.
