Milan, 23 September (LaPresse) – "This evening, the Veneto region is being affected by an intense storm system which, during the afternoon and evening, has caused violent and localised thunderstorms. In Badia Polesine, a water bomb has caused significant flooding and power cuts for many families. In the afternoon, the storm also hit Eraclea, Jesolo and Caorle, where the mayors reported flooding of roads and basements: the Regional Operations Room has already activated teams of volunteers to support the population." This was the statement made by the president of Veneto, Luca Zaia, regarding the bad weather affecting the region. “In Castelfranco Veneto,” Zaia continued, “the Avenale stream is under constant monitoring, with the Civil Engineering Department, the Consortium, the Municipality and the Fire Brigade already on site as a preventive measure. A persistent storm cell continues to affect Trecenta and Barucchella, with widespread flooding and power lines out of service, causing disruption to local families”.
