Rome, Sept. 24 (LaPresse) – Officers of the State Police – the Mobile Squad of Catania and the Police Station of Adrano (Ct) – coordinated by the Central Operational Service of the State Police, with the collaboration of the Mobile Squads of Naples, Caserta, Taranto, Nuoro, Sassari, Udine, Pavia, Siracusa, Chieti, and the Police Station of Caltagirone, executed a pre-trial detention order issued by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of Catania, at the request of the Catania District Anti-Mafia Directorate.

The order concerns 14 individuals accused, in various capacities, of mafia association, association aimed at drug trafficking, extortion, illegal possession of weapons, receiving stolen goods, arson-related damage, and unauthorized access to communication devices by detainees — all aggravated by the aim of facilitating the Scalisi clan, a mafia group operating in the Adrano area.

These arrests follow previous detentions carried out in recent days by the State Police against 10 other individuals belonging to the same criminal organization. After the validation hearings, the judge issued pre-trial detention orders against them as well. The investigation involved more than thirty individuals.
