Milan, Sept. 29 (LaPresse) – The Elkann family’s legal team clarified that “the alleged will of Gianni Agnelli — containing provisions in favor of his son Edoardo and produced in a photocopy only today by Margherita as part of the civil proceedings — has no impact whatsoever on either the Agnelli succession or the Caracciolo succession, and therefore does not affect the ownership structure of the company Dicembre.”

“At the time of the Avvocato’s death, Edoardo had already passed away: as a result, Gianni Agnelli’s shares in Dicembre were transferred to his wife Marella and daughter Margherita. The Agnelli inheritance was later settled through the 2004 settlement agreement, following which Margherita permanently exited Dicembre’s capital, having also considered Fiat at the time a company doomed to fail,” the lawyers explained.

They added that “more than 20 years have passed since Gianni Agnelli’s death, meaning any third-party claims on his estate would, in any case, be time-barred.”
“The initiative by Margherita’s legal team therefore appears more aimed at creating media confusion than conducting a rigorous legal analysis of the applicable rules,” the Elkann lawyers concluded.
