Rome, September 29 (LaPresse) – "I was afraid first of all for the children. There were so many of them attending Mass, and I can't stand the fact that they have to find themselves in tense situations. It's something I just can't tolerate." This is what Father Maurizio Patriciello, parish priest of the church of San Paolo Apostolo in Caivano (Naples), said in an interview with Corriere della Sera after receiving a package containing a 9×21 caliber bullet during Mass. "There were faithful queuing for the Eucharist, and there was also this man I know very well," he said. "He took the host and then was about to leave, but he came back and gave me something, a package." He didn't open the package immediately, but "not far from me there was a journalist who had come to interview me after the shootings the other night. She's a friend, I handed the package to her without even seeing what it was." And it was "she who had the police and the Carabinieri stop that man before he left. At first, I didn't understand what was happening in the church. It only became clear to me after a few minutes." Regarding the situation at Parco Verde, he explained: "There were two shootings on Saturday, and shootings are never organized randomly. They always want to convey something." According to the priest, "if those people felt the need to make themselves heard by shooting wildly in the neighborhood streets, it can only mean one thing: in Caivano and the surrounding area, organized crime, deeply rooted for years, has suffered a terrible blow in recent months. No one can sit back or watch from a window."
