Rome, September 29 (LaPresse) – "The 'stesa' and the threatening incident against Don Patriciello are a clear sign that local criminals feel they have lost ground to the state's grip," Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said in an interview with Il Messaggero. "This surge in Camorra-style violence," he insisted, "must be interpreted precisely as the desperate, crude, and uncoordinated reaction of a criminal power that feels the growing pressure of the state. Not only those involved in crime, but also those who, at a lower level, live in petty crime, have realized that something has changed." The minister stated, "I sensed that Don Patriciello was rightly concerned, but far from fearful. He has embraced a mission that goes beyond pastoral care, and he is very determined to move forward. Many have offered him solidarity, first and foremost the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. I myself have announced that I will soon return to Caivano to continue along the path we have undertaken, to demonstrate to anyone in need that Don Patriciello is not alone; he has the support and solidarity of the State and all good people."
