Migrants, Pope: ‘No to the coldness of indifference’

Rome, 5 October (LaPresse) – No to the coldness of indifference towards migrants. Pope Leo XIV said this during his homily at the Jubilee for missionaries and migrants. ‘The drama of their flight from violence,’ said the Pontiff, "the suffering that accompanies them, the fear of not making it, the risk of dangerous crossings along the coast, their cry of pain and despair: brothers and sisters, those boats hoping to spot a safe harbour to stop at and those eyes full of anguish and hope seeking dry land to land on cannot and must not encounter the coldness of indifference or the stigma of discrimination." Prevost then addressed the migrants, adding: ‘You are always welcome! The seas and deserts you have crossed are, in Scripture, “places of salvation”, where God made himself present to save his people.’
