Bari, Oct. 7 (LaPresse) – The President of the Apulia Region, Michele Emiliano, has filed a complaint against the Israeli government over the seizure and arrest of Italian and Apulian citizens involved in the peace mission called Global Sumud Flotilla.
The Apulia Region stated in a press release that “following the international dissemination of reports concerning the illegal seizure and arrest by Israeli armed forces of Italian citizens, including at least three from Apulia, involved in the peace mission called 'Global Sumud Flotilla,' aimed at delivering humanitarian aid to the population of Gaza on small boats flying the Italian flag in international waters, the Regional Council today decided to file a complaint against the Israeli government.”
Michele Emiliano declared: “The perpetration of acts of violence aboard Italian vessels and against unarmed fellow citizens, arbitrarily seized and taken to Israeli prisons, along with the seizure and subsequent sinking of these vessels, constitute very serious crimes that violate the fundamental values and principles of the Statute of the Apulia Region, which is a victim and damaged party by the criminal actions of the Israeli government.”
