Rome, Oct. 21 (LaPresse) – A boy, just over a teenager, was heard by investigators as a witness to what happened Sunday evening on the highway connecting Rieti to Terni, where the bus carrying Pistoia basketball supporters was attacked with stones. During the stoning, a rock hit and killed the second driver, 65-year-old Raffaele Marinella.

During a protected hearing, the young witness indicated to investigators from the mobile squad and the Digos of the Rieti police headquarters the alleged perpetrators of the tragedy. According to reports, the “super witness” was on the highway’s central reservation together with the rioters.

The three, Manuel Fortuna, 31, Kevin Pellecchia, 20, and Alessandro Barberini, 53, are accused of voluntary homicide in complicity. In the investigation files, conducted by chief prosecutor Paolo Auriemma and deputy prosecutor Lorenzo Francia, there is also a fourth suspect at large. The arrested, for whom confirmation of detention will be requested in the coming days by the Rieti court judge, will be interrogated within 48 hours. All would belong to the ultras group “Curva Terminillo” and would also be linked to far-right groups.

On Thursday, the medical examiner will be assigned the task of performing the autopsy on Raffaele Marinella.
