Milan, attacker of 43-year-old woman stabbed in Piazza Gae Aulenti tracked down

Milan, 3 November (LaPresse) – The alleged attacker of the 43-year-old woman stabbed this morning in Milan's Piazza Gae Aulenti has been identified and tracked down. The man, a 59-year-old Italian born in Bergamo, was recognised by his twin sister who saw him in images released by the Carabinieri with the authorisation of the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office. The woman contacted the Carabinieri operations centre, saying she had recognised her twin brother in the images of the attacker. Immediate searches carried out by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Milan led to the man being tracked down in a hotel in the capital, where he had been staying for a few days after being removed from a rehabilitation community in the Varese area. The 59-year-old was found wearing clothes matching those worn during the attack. Initial investigations have not revealed any links between the victim and the attacker, who was found to have committed a similar offence in 2015.
