Milan, Nov. 5 (LaPresse) – Former Deputy Prosecutor of Pavia, Mario Venditti, responds to the accusations reported by Panorama and La Verità regarding his handling of the investigations into the case of Andrea Sempio, under investigation for the Garlasco murder. Venditti, through his lawyer Domenico Aiello, described the published reports as a "discovery of hot water," explaining that the request to the Gip of Pavia on February 22, 2017, to delay the filing of wiretaps was common practice in investigations of serious crimes. According to Venditti, this delay, justified by the need to "complete the requests for coercive measures against the suspects," was intended to avoid jeopardizing future investigative actions. The former magistrate, under investigation for corruption in judicial acts by the Brescia Prosecutor’s Office, also recalls that the decision of the Brescia Court of Appeal to reject the first request to review Alberto Stasi’s trial, and the coordination with the Milan General Prosecutor’s Office, confirmed the lack of evidence against Sempio. The request for dismissal, filed on March 16, 2017, was also signed by then-PM Giulia Pezzino and the Pavia prosecutor, Giorgio Reposo, and not on March 15 as incorrectly reported.
