Rome, Nov 7 (LaPresse) – "Yesterday, with the final decision of the judiciary, the legal proceedings related to the death of my daughter Giulia came to a close. There is no justice that can restore what has been taken, but there is the awareness that the truth has been recognized and responsibilities fully established. It would be natural to think of continuing to demand justice, to seek further acknowledgment of cruelty or stalking. But continuing to fight when the war is over is, ultimately, a futile act. The awareness that it is time to stop, instead, is a sign of inner peace and maturity, a step that should be taken more often."
This is stated in a note by Gino Cecchettin regarding the General Prosecutor’s Office at the Venice Court of Appeal withdrawing its appeal against the life sentence of Filippo Turetta. "Justice has the task of ascertaining facts, not alleviating pain. That task belongs to us: to those who remain, who choose to transform suffering into awareness and memory into responsibility," adds Giulia’s father.
