Rome, 4 December (LaPresse) – This afternoon, at the Apostolic Palace, Pope Leo XIV met Roberto Benigni together with Giampaolo Rossi, CEO of Rai, and Simona Ercolani, CEO and Creative Director of Stand by Me, producer, together with Vatican Media, of the monologue ‘Pietro un uomo nel vento’ (Pietro, a man in the wind), which will be broadcast by Rai1 on 10 December in prime time and was presented this morning in a world premiere to the press at the MAXXI in Rome. The Pope watched some excerpts from the monologue: ‘How beautiful, it speaks of love,’ he commented at the end. During the meeting, before the screening, the Pope and Benigni talked about cinema and ‘Life is Beautiful,’ which the Pope listed among his four favourite films, and Frank Capra's ‘It's a Wonderful Life.’ The Pope and Benigni talked about the lives of St. Peter, Dante and St. Augustine, the Divine Comedy and the Confessions. The meeting was also attended by the Prefect of the Dicastery for Communication, Paolo Ruffini, the Director of Vatican Media, Stefano D'Agostini, and some of Benigni's collaborators.
