Milan, 24 Dec. (LaPresse) – More than 30 people have been identified by police following investigations carried out by the Digos (Special Operations Group) after clashes on 20 December in Turin during a demonstration against the eviction of the Askatasuna social centre. During checks carried out in the morning and before the demonstrators gathered at Palazzo Nuovo, more than 100 people were identified, many of whom, including some from other cities, went on to take part in the march. In addition, at the end of the demonstration, Digos personnel inspected, searched and seized the van at the head of the procession, finding and seizing the sound system, smoke bombs, a can of red paint, two power generators, and petrol cans. The three individuals on board the vehicle were reported for aggravated violence and resistance to public officials and violation of Article 18 of the TULPS (Consolidated Law on Public Security). A metal pipe used to launch fireworks, a “self-locking” concrete block found on the ground at the end of the clashes and the damaged helmet belonging to the Turin Mobile Unit operator who was hit by a stone were also seized.
