Milan, 25 Dec. (LaPresse) – At dawn, Carabinieri from the Castello di Cisterna investigative unit, coordinated by the Neapolitan Anti-Mafia Directorate, tracked down and arrested fugitive Antonio Aloia, 47. The man had been on the run since August 2024 when he failed to return to prison after a period of leave, where he was being held for mafia association, illegal possession of weapons, and continued extortion aggravated by mafia methods. Aloia was hiding in the flat of a 45-year-old supporter and was asleep when the Carabinieri of Castello di Cisterna, supported by the A.P.I. team from Naples, raided the flat. A loaded gun was found on the bedside table. The arrested man will be transferred to prison. The supporter was also arrested. Aloia was to serve 27 years and 3 months in prison, with his sentence ending in 2030. Twenty years ago, he had already been arrested as a fugitive. Aloia is the brother of Andrea, who was arrested by the Carabinieri in October 2023, also as a fugitive.
