Turin, 25 Dec. (LaPresse) – The Carabinieri of Casalgrande, in the province of Reggio Emilia, solved in a few hours the dramatic case of the fatal accident that occurred the other night, around 11 p.m., in which a citizen who was throwing away rubbish lost his life. The alleged perpetrator of the hit-and-run, a 43-year-old Italian woman originally from Palermo and resident in Casalgrande, presented herself at the police station, accompanied by her lawyer, and declared her responsibility, anticipating the findings of the Carabinieri who were on her trail. For these reasons, the woman was reported to the Reggio Emilia Public Prosecutor's Office on charges of vehicular homicide and hit-and-run. The victim was violently struck by a hit-and-run driver while standing near the rubbish bins. The impact, which proved fatal on impact, was followed by the immediate flight of the driver. The military's search immediately extended throughout the area between Reggio Emilia and Modena. The fragments of bodywork and debris recovered from the asphalt were analysed and compared with the damage to the suspect vehicle. This evidence was decisive in identifying the alleged perpetrator. The 43-year-old woman admitted her responsibility, justifying her flight by saying she panicked after the accident.
