Rome, Dec. 31 (LaPresse) – “In our time we feel the need for a wise, benevolent, merciful plan. One that is a free and liberating, peaceful, faithful project.” Thus Pope Leo XIV in St. Peter’s Basilica, as he presided over First Vespers with the traditional Te Deum of thanksgiving at the close of the civil year. “Other plans, however, today as in the past, envelop the world. They are more like strategies that aim to conquer markets, territories, spheres of influence. Armed strategies, cloaked in hypocritical speeches, ideological proclamations, and false religious motives,” the Holy Father added.
